Wraparound Care at Holmwood School
To ensure that we are not crossing bubbles between our two schools we have made some temporary changes to the Breakfast and After School Club provision.
From Monday 21 September 2020 we will be hosting Breakfast and After School Club at Ashbrook and Holmwood schools.
- Ashbrook children will remain at Ashbrook School
- Holmwood children will be at Holmwood School for both sessions
We are also amending the timings of both the morning and after school sessions temporarily to the following times:
- Breakfast Club – children can be dropped off from 8.00am
- After School Club – children will need to be collected by 5.45pm
BREAKFAST CLUB / AFTER SCHOOL CLUB / HOLIDAY PLAY SCHEME
We are keen to support working parents and offer children a variety of fun activities at our OFSTED registered Breakfast Club, After School Club and Holiday Play Scheme.
Breakfast Club is open from 8.00am. Children are offered breakfast on arrival, which is a choice of cereals, toast and fruit juices or milk. They are then able to read, draw, colour, play board games, chat to friends until the start of the school day.
AFTER SCHOOL CLUB
Children attending the After School Club are given a healthy snack, which is freshly prepared by the After School Club team. We are sensitive to each child's needs and cater for cultural/dietary requirements.
After snack children are taken outside (weather permitting) and the play workers guide and support them in their play. Play continues inside, where a variety of games, cars, dolls and a home corner are provided. We also have a weekly 'theme' for art and craft activities. There is a quiet area available during all sessions for those children who wish to read or rest. Our play workers are constantly undertaking training in order to provide the best service for your children and maintain the high standards parents have come to expect from the Holmwood and Ashbrook schools. All staff are appropriately DBS checked and we always have a first-aid trained member of staff on duty.
We offer half sessions from 3.10pm – 4.30pm and full sessions from 3.10 - 5.45pm:
On arrival all children go for snack and then indoor activities or outside for games etc. until they are collected.
Door entry is via the main entrance to school on a MONDAY and via the hall side door on TUESDAY - FRIDAY. You will then be able to collect your child, be given any messages and asked to sign out your child.
If, in an emergency, you need to appoint someone to collect your child, other than those named on your registration form, you must telephone us first and give us a password, which they must use or we will not permit your child to leave the premises.
If your child has medication in school, ie: inhalers, Epipens etc., please arrange for the After School Club to have one for our medical box for emergency use. You will also need to complete a medicine permission form.
HOLIDAY PLAY SCHEME
Our Holiday Play Scheme is always popular and we aim to offer a range of fun activities to keep your children busy and entertained during the holidays.
As this facility is always popular, please book early to avoid disappointment. Our Holiday Play Scheme is open to older and younger school age siblings up to the age of 12. Activities are tailored to the age groups booked into the play scheme.
Breakfast will be available to all children arriving between 8.00-8.45am. You will need to supply your child with a packed lunch, although healthy snacks and drinks will be provided.
Please ensure you complete a registration form for your child and keep us informed of any changes to your contact details. This will enable us to contact you immediately in case of emergency.
At the start of each half term, parents will need to have completed a booking form, detailing all sessions required for that period. This will help us to plan staffing, refreshments and activities in advance. All forms are available from the After School Club and the school office.
If you are unable to book in advance, due to shift patterns etc and you require your child to attend on an ad-hoc basis, we will need to know which sessions you require on the Monday of each week and receive payment that day.
|Breakfast Club session||£4.50|
|After School Club half session (3.10 - 4.30pm)||£5.75|
|After School Club full session (3.10 - 5.45pm)||£9.75|

Please note that children must be collected by 5.45pm at the latest for After School Club and 6.00pm at the latest for Holiday Play Scheme. Parents will be charged £1.00 per minute for late collection.
Payment must be made in advance. Cheques should be made payable to 'Ashbrook School'. We will require at least one week’s payment to secure your child’s place. Failure to do so may result in the place being withdrawn.
We will also require a £30.00 non-refundable registration fee per family. This is a one-off payment for the Breakfast and After School Club only.
If you need to change any arrangements because of medical appointments, holidays or for other reasons, please complete a cancellation form in order that we can amend our register.
We need a minimum of one week’s notice for cancellations, as we will have already organised staffing and refreshments in advance. If your child does not attend a pre-booked session, this absence will be charged for as we have to cover staffing and other costs. Unfortunately, we are unable to ‘swap’ pre-booked sessions without the required notice.
Please be aware that we operate a behaviour policy for children attending the After School Club, Breakfast Club and Holiday Play Scheme. This includes a zero tolerance approach to poor behaviour. We record such incidents and repeated incidents will result in children being asked to leave the Club. Any deliberate damage to toys or equipment will be charged to the child’s parent/carer as appropriate.
